Will it be a kitchen nightmare for Katie?

-

BBC1, 9pm

THIS master of all reality shows is a melting pot of brilliant celebrity moments.

Whether it’s Katie Price taking a mallet rather vigorously to a crab or actor Melissa Johns having an identity crisis over a berry tart, cooking brings out the tension.

In this third week of heats, ex-England footballer and presenter Dion Dublin, Repair Shop furniture restorer Will Kirk and presenter Joe Swash make up the latest batch of amateur cooks, alongside Katie and Melissa.

None of them have any cooking confidence whatsoever.

Dion says he’d rather take a penalty in an FA Cup semifinal; Katie says her cooking is “dinner lady style” – big pots, throw everything in – while Will admits he can only make one thing.

The first challenge, dubbed Under The Cloche, sees them confronted with one ingredient that they must showcase in a special dish.

There are confused looks all round as they deal with everything from chickpeas to a pigeon.

Next is the Street Food Challenge, which sees most of the chefs have a choking fit as they taste the vinegary Jamaican dish, Escovitch fish with festival dumplings.

Can they figure out the ingredients and how to make it?

Finally the contestants must prepare their Dinner Party Dish – the plate of food you would whip up to impress a friend for dinner.

John Torode wants “a little bit of style, a little bit of sparkle,” but to be honest, if the judge can just manage to avoid food poisoning, he’ll be doing well…
