Baggies knocked off top in spite of away win

FULHAM moved to the top of the Championsh­ip by beating Hull City 2-0 at Craven Cottage.

Aleksandar Mitrovic and Fabio Carvalho, as they had in the victory against Millwall in midweek, scored first-half goals as Marco Silva’s side leapfrogge­d West Bromwich Albion on goal difference.

West Brom won 2-1 away to Blackburn Rovers to also make it 10 points from four games.

Alex Mowatt scored in the opening two minutes of the first half and Matt Phillips made it two in added time at Ewood Park to put Albion in control.

Chile internatio­nal striker Ben Brereton Diaz pulled one back for Rovers with his fifth goal in seven games but the Baggies held on for another victory.

Stoke City are third after beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 with a Josh Tymon goal, leaving Forest bottom going into next weekend’s clash with Derby County at Pride Park Stadium and still looking for their first point.

Coventry City continued their progress by climbing to fourth with a 2-1 win over Reading.
