Air medics called out to M1 accident

AN air ambulance was called out after a serious crash on the M1 yesterday.

The southbound carriagewa­y between junctions 27 and 28 was closed as the emergency services dealth with the incident.

Highways England confirmed that Derbyshire police, traffic officers and East Midlands Ambulance Service were at the scene. Police ncouraged drivers to avoid the area if possible.

Traffic informatio­n company Inrix revealed details about the incident.

A statement said: “There has been an accident, two lorries and a car with one lorry overturned involved. The road is closed and there is stationary traffic. Air ambulance is now at scene.”

The carriagewa­y is believed to have been reopened around midday.

It is not know if anyone was injured in the incident.
