Beauty queen Adrianne is an inspiration for helping others

-

AN NHS worker from Derbyshire has become a beauty queen despite battling with disability.

Adrianne Robinson, from Hatton, has visual impairment, dyslexia and dyspraxia, a condition that affects her physical co-ordination.

Her spirit and determination has resulted in the 29-year-old being named Miss Inspiration Ambassador UK 2021.

Miss Robinson works full time in the NHS as a clinical apprentice and is training to become a healthcare assistant.

She also became an NHS responder, volunteering in her community to help those who needed assistance during the pandemic, all while having dyslexia, dyspraxia and visual impairment

Miss Robinson says she plans to use her status to help women grow in confidence, as well as helping in their communities.

She said: “I first applied for the Miss Inspiration UK system in 2018 and reapplied in 2019.

“I had the regional title of Miss Derbyshire Inspiration 2019/20 and now have the title of Miss Inspiration Ambassador UK 2021 which I won in February 2021 after sending a video interview of why I wanted to be the first ambassador.

“I’ve kept myself active giving time to my community from home and in my area and fund-raising even during Covid-19 to help my community as an NHS Responder.

“My platform as ambassador is Given Time, which is all about raising awareness and educating others about volunteering in the community and the positive impact it has on you as well as others.

“During Volunteers Week I promoted this with my new campaign Timeless Beauty to show that time can be given at any age, and give the benefits of volunteering. If I was to win the national title of Miss Inspiration Women UK, I’d continue to promote my platform of volunteering and to educate others. I have a podcast, #fiercefootforwardx, which explores volunteering in general.

“Most recently I completed an abseil off Derby Cathedral to fundraise for the DME ward (Department of Elderly Medicine) at the Royal Derby Hospital.

“I have dyslexia, dyspraxia and visual impairment, however I don’t let this stop me as I use my strengths and get on with my role. I want to inspire others to do the same.”

Adrienne started volunteering at 15 in a Cancer Research UK charity shop to complete the service section of her Duke of Edinburgh Award, giving her skills such as communication, time management, team work and retail.

She stayed on for 11 years, gaining her 10-year service badge which now sits on her sash with pride.

She has also volunteered for the YMCA winter night shelter and Burton Hope Outreach Team to help the homeless.
