-

A MAN has been arrested after a person was left in hospital following an alleged stabbing in Ilkeston.

The victim, a 40-year-old man, was left with a stab wound after an altercation with another man at an address in Critchley Street in the town on Tuesday morning, August 24.

Emergency services were called following the incident and the victim was taken to hospital with injuries that are not thought to be lifethreatening.

A man who claims to have seen what happened said there was “blood everywhere” after the incident, which happened at around 6.30am.

“The blood was squirting up. It must have hit a vein or artery, it was nearly reaching the ceiling,” he said.

At the scene there was a trail of blood leading from the car park into a block of flats and up a flight of stairs.

A police dog and its handler were also seen walking around the flats.

Warren Baker, who said he lives in the flat where the incident took place, said there were a group of people in a property and that a fight broke out. He added his friend suffered a stab wound during an altercation.

The 32-year-old added: “I went downstairs to call the ambulance. He’s in hospital right now. I think he’ll be all right.”
