A CHARITY established last year to support the NHS has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon centre in Kegworth.

Run For Heroes was set up in response to the pandemic to encourage mass participation in sport while raising money for health and wellbeing causes.

The charity, which has volunteers across Derbyshire, launched the #Run5Donate5 Nominate5 campaign last year.

It raised more than £7 million for the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Appeal by challenging the public to run or walk 5km and donate £5. More than 1.5 million people have taken part.

Celia Syme, general manager at Amazon in Kegworth, said: “We’re really pleased to support such a worthwhile cause and it was great to see members of the team getting involved in the 5km event.”

Olivia Strong, founder of Run For Heroes, said: “I want to say thank you to Celia and the team for selecting us for this donation. Every donation we receive is really appreciated.”
