Derby Telegraph

Left disappointed by new city police hub

-

I RECENTLY needed the police regarding a crime.

A 74-year-old family member had been mugged.

I remember a few months previously reading in the Derby Telegraph that Derby had a new police base in the city centre, the first time in six years that this had been the case.

I went to the building on Full Street and the heavy wooden doors were locked, so I banged on the doors and eventually a lady opened them. She said it wasn’t a police station, it was just a changing and showering base for them.

I was so annoyed because what’s the point in this and what a waste of our money if it’s not needed. They have worded it craftily, calling it a police hub.

What is the point of this when there are so few police out and about?

If anyone needs to go to a police station, don’t bother with Full Street, just go to St Mary’s Wharf, especially if you need the police urgently.
