Fifth of eight sausage dogs stolen from kennels is rescued 130 miles away
JESS, the fifth of eight sausage dogs dognapped from a Derbyshire boarding kennels is to be reunited with her owners, having been rescued more than 130 miles away from where she was stolen.
The miniature wire-haired dachshunds were taken in a raid on a property in Burton Road, Swadlincote, back in February, to the devastation of their owners.
Less than a week after the fourth dachshund, Rummy, was found safe, another has now been rescued.
Jess was found in Basingstoke, on Monday, near where another of the stolen pups, Rikki, was found back in May.
The three-year-old dachshund will soon be reunited with her delighted owners.
Lisa Dean, who runs charity Beauty’s Legacy, has been helping with the six-month-long search to reunite the five female and three male dogs with their owners.
She said: “Three-year-old miniature dachshund Jess was recovered today after being handed in by a member of the public to a vets in a village called Wootton St Lawrence, near Basingstoke, in Hampshire.
“It is very close to where we found the third dachshund Rikki in May. She was scanned and her microchip matched.
“She is currently with the vets in
Hampshire and her owner is arranging to travel down and collect her.”
Of the eight dachshunds, Rikki, Rummy, Jess, Percy and Muffin have been found. Percy and Muffin were found in Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire respectively.
Three of the dogs, Cookie, Nora and Doris are still missing.
Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of the remaining dogs is asked to contact Derbyshire police by calling 101, quoting reference number 20*084142 in any correspondence.

All the dogs are microchipped and aged between one and six years old.
