Man arrested on suspicion of bid to kill store guard

-

A MAN has been arrested in Derbyshire on suspicion of the attempted murder of a security guard.

Police officers took the 19-year-old into custody after a 42-year-old man was stabbed five times in Middleton Shopping Centre, in Greater Manchester, earlier this month.

The incident, which took place at 12.50pm, on Saturday, August 14, left the security guard with serious injuries, although he has since been discharged from hospital.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested, although he has since been released with no further action.

The latest arrest was made by police in an area of woodland in Glossop on Tuesday.

The suspect is currently in custody where he is being questioned by investigators from Rochdale CID about the incident.

It is understood the suspect is originally from the Manchester area, and does not live in Derbyshire. Greater Manchester Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident, and enquiries are continuing.
