Police rescue seven dogs from appalling conditions
POLICE have rescued dogs which were found covered in filth at a property in Derbyshire.
Officers say they were greeted with a “very strong smell” when they arrived at an address in Linton on Tuesday.
Inside, they found seven dogs in appalling conditions, with officers saying it was clear they had been there for months.
Officers took the animals into care with the help of dog wardens and the Environmental Health Team.
A spokesperson for Swadlincote Police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT), which is part of Derbyshire police, said the team had decided to stay on after their shift finished to investigate the initial reports of concern for the dogs.
“Our environmental health team received information regarding some concern around seven dogs at an address in Linton,” they said.
“They were due to finish work at the time this information came through, they decided to say on and visit the address.
“On arrival at the address they found a very strong smell of dog faeces, on entering the garden they found seven dogs living in kennels that were covered in historical dog faeces. It was very clear these dogs had been living in these conditions for several months. All seven pups were seized with the help of the dog wardens and safer neighbourhood team. This is a continuing interagency investigation.”
It comes days after dogs were also rescued from appalling conditions at a farm in Newhall.
