Vulnerable police need to carry live weapons
ON Sunday, I watched an episode of Traffic ops. In one incident in Derbyshire, after a car chase, one lone officer collared four suspects – one cop, one Taser, four suspects.
He’s outnumbered until his back-up arrived, which luckily was about five minutes. If one suspect got Tasered, the other could have attacked that officer and made a mess of him, if not fatal – those suspects were known to be violent.
If that officer had a gun, he would have been protected more: one gun, six bullets, four suspects.
Our police should be ar med. I can’t see what the problem is. Why can’t they carry live weapons.
