Rock ‘n’ roll

- By Keith J Furnival

They said rock ‘n’ roll would never die.

They weren’t far wrong, were they.

Music comes, music goes, only the good songs stay. Can’t keep a great tune down, pulls you up on to the dancefloor.

The King still wears the crown, it’s rock ‘n’ roll true and pure. Years come and pass away, rock star legends here to stay. Chuck Berry, John Lennon, Ian Hunter, Jerry Lee.

Joe Brown, Eric Clapton,

Sid Vicious, Buddy Holly. Through the heart into the soul, down to those jiving feet.

To the Hollywood Bowl, from Liverpool’s Mathew Street. Parents pass their music down to the next generation. Bouncing babies rocking around, into their own ovation. They said rock ‘n’ roll would never die.

They weren’t far wrong, were they.
