Stones on a roll with top two placings

THERE was a double celebratio­n for Mr & Mrs D Stone after the latest Burton & South Derbyshire outing was delayed 24 hours due to bad weather.

Pigeons were eventually liberated from Hullavingt­on at 10.50am in a north-west wind.

And the Stones won the Holbrook race, taking the red card with a blue cock doing 1317 yards per minute.

They also claimed second place with a cheq cock recording 1316.

In third and fourth were D & A Swift with a blue hen registerin­g 1314 and a cheq cock doing 1313.

S & H W Hall claimed the red card in the Osmaston Park Homing Society event.

They won with a b/pied hen recording 1300, followed by a cheq hen doing 1272 in fourth. This latest success gives S & H W Hall three wins out of four races.

In second were the Shenton Brothers, Ron and Norman, with a cheq hen doing 1281, while Mick Fearn was third with a cheq cock registerin­g 1278.

In the Etwall & District Flying Club race, A Peach & Son claimed three of the first four positions. Their winner was a grizzle hen doing 1240 followed by a black cock registerin­g 1231 and a grizzle hen recording 1214.

Willy Horton was third with a red cock doing 1222.

The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Upper Heyford and the pigeons were liberated at 7.15am in a south-east wind.

Keith Foulk picked up the first two positions in the Kilburn Club race.

His winner was a dk hen doing 631 followed by a dk/f cock registerin­g 596.

Stewart Wainwright was third and fourth with a ch/flighty hen doing 595 followed by a b/pied cock in 567.
