Summer gives lift to care home residents
VISITS AND LOTS OF EVENTS BRING BACK THE SMILES
RESIDENTS at Foylebank Care Home and Queensferry Court Care and Nursing Home in Derby have been making the most of the summer.
With virus restrictions lifting, residents have been welcoming lots of visitors, as well as taking trips out and about with family, friends and care home workers.
Residents have been enjoying gardens and outside spaces, joining activities, even carrying out a spot of gardening like growing strawberries and flowers.
Birthdays, celebrations and social activities are a way of life at the homes, operated by family-run care provider Agincare.
Firm favourites at both homes is singing duo The Sundaes, who have been entertaining residents with hits from the 1950s,
60s and 70s. With Euro 2020 football and the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, there’s been plenty of action for sport lovers to get wrapped up in too, including Queensferry Court resident Frank Pallet, who said: “I’ve really enjoyed everything the staff have done this summer. It was fun to get back out in the garden, and the singers were really good. It’s also nice to see visitors back in the home again.”
Care home teams dressed up as the cast from Grease for an American-themed day starring local Elvis tribute act Lee Grindley, who belted out classic tunes from The King. Lee Langley, Senior Registered Manager of Foylebank and Queensferry Court, said: “It’s been very much a case of keep calm and carry on to enjoy the best of a jampacked great British summer for our residents and we’ll be keeping it up into the autumn. We’re passionate about social interaction, activities and visits because they’re a massive part of making sure all our residents feel happy, cared for and part of a real home-fromhome community.”
Queensferry Court Care Home in Allenton and Foylebank Care Home in Chaddesden deliver high quality care, and are rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission.
The homes are operated by family-run leading independent care provider Agincare, which this year celebrates its 35th anniversary.
