Friends raise a glass to opening their own hair business
TWO friends have fulfilled their dream by opening their own hair salon.
Tania Bickley and Samantha Brown, who have known each other years, say their new business in Swadlincote is already booming.
The pair, who have previously worked together, have set up Unique Hair Boutique, in Church Street.
The stylists say now is the perfect time for both of them to go into partnership with each other, and the decision has already borne fruit after a very busy opening two weeks.
Tania, 32, has been fully qualified for 16 years, and Samantha, 29, for 12.
Tania said: “It was something we always wanted to do and the opportunity came up so we just went for it. It took a month to get set up and we love it. It’s just the two of us at the moment but we will be looking to rent out chairs in the future.
“We’ve always been self-employed but it is nice to do up the salon to how we like it and put in the finishing touches like contactless phone chargers – we’ve tried to go that little bit of an extra mile.
With the help of their partners and daughters, they did all the work themselves to get it ready for opening.
Tania added: “We are very proud we have managed to open our own salon during a pandemic and have worked extremely hard. We hope you love our salon as much as we do.”
They offer all hairstyling services which include bridal hair, extensions, cut and colour and festival hair.
