Car smashes through TWO walls at offices

- By HELEN DUBBER AND CALLUM PARKE

A CAR smashed through two walls of an office building early yesterday.

The vehicle went through the front entrance of the Drivers Direct Recruitment branch on Aspen Road in Spondon and then crashed through internal walls, smashing into desks, printers and other equipment.

The office was unoccupied at the time of the incident, between 8am and 9am, due to the bank holiday and no one, apart from the driver, is believed to have been injured.

Matthew Timms, a transport consultant at Drivers Direct Recruitment, said he was called into the office at 9am following the incident.

He said: “I was utterly shocked and speechless when I received a call this morning informing me of the accident.

“It’s only a matter of chance that this didn’t happen on a normal working day where I would have been sat where the car is now.

“I’m feeling very shaken by the situation but I’m just thankful that no one was in the office when it happened.”

Reports from the scene originally indicated that the driver was in intensive care, however it is now understood that this is not the case. The extent of the driver’s injuries are unknown.
