Borrington catches up with Wheeldon
PAUL Borrington has joined Dan Wheeldon at the top of the Derbyshire Premier Division Player of the Year list after a man of the match performance for Ticknall.
Borrington reached 1,000 league runs for the season with his century, while Akhil Patel’s century for Langley Mill raised him to joint second with Spondon’s Paul Allen.
They are both four points behind the leading two, although, with Sandiacre having four games to play, Wheeldon has the most chances left to add points.
Umpires at each game award three, two and one points to players deemed most influential, with a £250 first prize awaiting the overall winner, £100 for second and £50 for third in the Finance Advice Centre-sponsored competition. LEADING SCORES, 22pts: Dan Wheeldon (Sandiacre), Paul Borrington (Ticknall).
18: Paul Allen (Spondon), Akhil Patel (Langley Mill). 16: Josh Lacey (Ockbrook), Ben Hutchinson (Swarkestone).
14 Samit Patel (Langley Mill), Ousman Khizer (Ticknall), Mitch Bradley (Denby), Gareth Young (Ockbrook), Tom Knight (A&B).
