Crematorium gives £10k to charity

-

A CHARITY that supports disadvantaged people in Derbyshire has received a £10,000 donation from the operator of Trent Valley Crematorium.

The Crematorium and Memorial Group (CMG) was able to make the donation to Padley, which is based in Derby, due to Trent Valley Crematorium participating in a nationwide metal recycling scheme administered by the Association of Private Crematoria and Cemeteries. The scheme sees metals that have been recovered from the cremation process recycled, with the express consent of bereaved families, and the profits donated to charity.

For the past 12 months, CMG, which is a part of Dignity, has set aside a fund to help local charities whose fundraising has been deeply impacted by Covid-19 but have adapted to continue providing support to communities.

Padley is committed to working with people who are disadvantaged and in different kinds of need and provides facilities and services such as a day centre, therapeutic learning and training opportunities and accommodation.

Kerry Collyer, marketing manager at Padley said: “The money donated by the Crematorium and Memorial Group will help us run one of our support sessions for an entire year. In these sessions we help those who have recently been homeless or who are at risk of homelessness gain the confidence, wellbeing, and skills they need to lead a positive and happier life.”
