Man rescued after fall from Dales path
AN elderly male walker had to be rescued on Wednesday evening after falling near High Tor in Matlock.
High Tor is renowned for treacherous paths and the pensioner stumbled onto steep banking and fell.
A co-ordinated emergency services response led to the walker being evacuated to safety where he was treated for minor injuries.
The casualty was located by the Derbyshire Dales Response Unit and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service managed to reach him using specialist equipment. He was transported to an East Midlands NHS Trust ambulance crew and examined for injuries. Derbyshire Dales Response Unit tweeted at 2.24am on Thursday: “High Tor. Transported back to road by us and passed on to East midlands Ambulance Service to be checked over.”
