New signs go up at shopping centre

-

WORK to install new Derbion signage at the shopping centre’s entrances is now well under way as it completes its re-brand.

The new branding first appeared within the centre back in early March, when signs for Intu Derby were replaced by those showing the new Derbion logo.

Earlier this week, Burton-based Hardy Signs started a two-week project to put 20 illuminated signs up at various locations outside the shopping centre, including above the entrances off Albion Street, Traffic Street and by The Spot.

The firm, led by operations director Tom Hardy, is using specialist abseiling teams and powered access equipment, with teams working through the night to minimise disruption to the public.

Nik Hardy, managing director of Hardy Signs, said: “We are delighted to have been selected as the preferred signage supplier for the flagship project in the city centre. It’s fantastic to be involved in such a large project like this, especially with it being right on our doorstep. There are so many exciting projects coming to Derby city centre and it’s great to be a part of it.”

Adam Tamsett, general manager at Derbion, said: “We have been impressed by Hardy Signs’ enthusiasm and commitment to this exciting project. As Derbion sits in the heart of the community, it’s great to be able to work with a local company. We can’t wait for the installation of our new exterior signage, which is the final step of unveiling of our new identity.”

The shopping centre was renamed as Derbion by its new owners Cale Street Investments in January.

Much of the branding installed inside the centre features the tag lines “people are at the heart of Derbion” and “life in motion”.

Earlier this week, Derbion announced a new Frasers Group department store is set to open next year in its biggest unit vacated by Debenhams in early May.
