Driver rescued from ditch
A “BRAVE” member of the public rescued a car crash victim as police have slammed drivers who barged past the cordon at the scene of the accident.
The accident led to power being cut to nearby homes, which saw workers from the Co-op in Willington step in to help people affected by storing frozen food.
But in incredible scenes, police said one rubbernecking motorist almost hit a boy crossing the road using a zebra crossing as she strained to see the crashed vehicle which had plunged into a ditch in Repton Road.
And a driver “furious” they had been made to wait during the incident ploughed through the police cordon surrounding the incident by mounting a pavement.
