1,060 county Covid cases over weekend

DERBYSHIRE has recorded a total of 1,060 Covid cases over the weekend.

The latest figures provided by Public Health England shows there have now been a total of 107,740 coronaviru­s cases across Derbyshire since the pandemic was officially declared last year.

On Saturday we reported that figures provided by Public Health England showed one more patient in the Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust had died within 28 days of a positive coronaviru­s test. It means there have now been 1,678 patients at the trust to have died having contracted the virus.

On Sunday, the Government said a further 68 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Sunday, bringing the UK total to 133,229.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 157,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificat­e.

As of 9am on Sunday, there had been a further 37,011 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

The total number of cases reported in Derbyshire since the start of the pandemic, indicating the totals for each area and the change in the 24 hours to September 4:
