Lockdown rulebreake­rs are fined in our courts

PEOPLE entering shops and takeaways not wearing masks during lockdown and partygoers flouting the rules have been fined thousands of pounds between them in court in Derby.

Others leaving home when not permitted have also received financial penalties.

In June, Derbyshire police praised the public for their behaviour throughout the pandemic, saying restrictio­ns were easing largely down to the efforts of the majority in the county.

It came following the publicatio­n of data that showed how many Covid-related fines were issued in the county and every other police authority in England.

It revealed that between March 27 last year, when the pandemic began, to May 15, 2021, more than 1,600 fines were issued by Derbyshire police.

Despite this, more than 40 individual­s were dealt with for offending on one day last week by magistrate­s in Derby.

Frantisek Balog, 40, of Normanton Road, Normanton: fined £220 for being in a gathering of two or more in Sutherland Road on January 7.

Ruzena Balogova, 36, of Normanton Road, Normanton: fined £220 for being in a gathering of two or more in Sutherland Road on January 7.

Marie Barton, 37, of Cromford Lane, Fairfield, Buxton: fined £220 for being in a gathering of two or more in Dale Road, Buxton, on January 8.

Miroslav Bily, 55, of Shepherd Street, Derby: fined £46 for leaving Derby without reasonable excuse for Moor Lane, Barrow on Trent, on February 5.

Adam Choinski, 54, of Wolfa Street, Derby: fined £220 for leaving Derby without reasonable excuse on January 9.

Ben Cotterill, 28, of Delves Road, Sheffield: fined £220 for being in a gathering of two or more in High Peak, on February 7.

Steven Davis, 33, of Dovedale Road, Derby: fined £220 for leaving his home without reasonable excuse for Chapel Street on January 9.

Joshua Edge, 23, of Uxbridge Street, Burton: fined £220 for being in a gathering of two or more on March 28.

Nigel Flintoff, 52, of Park Street, Alfreton: fined £151 for being in a gathering of two or more in Derwent Grove, on March 27.

Clarisse Foster, 23, of Princess Street, Castle Gresley: fined £220 for being in a gathering of two or more on January 6.

Rudolf Gabor, 20, of Rutland Street, Derby: fined £220 for being in a gathering of two or more in Cooperativ­e Street, on January 25.

Zdenka Godlova, 34, of Upper Bainbrigge Street, Derby: fined £330 for being in a gathering of two or more on January 2.

Marian Gunar, 43, of Holcombe Street, Normanton: fined £110 for entering a takeaway without a face covering in Pear Tree Road, Normanton, on February 3.

Lukas Harang, 33, of Holcombe Street, Normanton: fined £220 for being in a gathering of two or more in Havelock Road on January 21.
