Come and ride our heritage railway again
STEEPLE Grange Light Railway, like other heritage railways, has been closed because of Covid.
A rockfall delayed reopening but that is being dealt with and the railway has been welcoming the public again.
It has been especially popular as many destinations further away are difficult to get to at present. But there’s lots to see in Derbyshire.
Families are riding on the short quarry branch line where 300-million-year-old fossils can be seen. Half the length of the mainline is also running.
The railway is open at least until the end of September on Sundays from 10.30am until 4pm with a variety of engines at work.
Because the line is not fully open there is no charge but donations are welcome. Steeple Grange is a mile north of Wirksworth. More information is on the website www.SGLR.co.uk.
