Road closures for six weeks of work
PART of a busy Derby road will be closed for six weeks during a major roadworks project.
Osmaston Road, in Allenton, is currently being resurfaced between its junctions with Ascot Drive and Russell Street, with a road closure set to be in force for six hours on weekdays until Wednesday, October 13.
Elsewhere, Derby City Council’s major 20-week project to upgrade the traffic lights at Pentagon Island got under way late last month, with temporary traffic lights and lane closures likely to continue to affect motorists at the busy roundabout this week.
Some other routes are also due to undergo roadworks this week, according to the city council’s website and roadworks collaboration site one.network.
Derby City Council will be resurfacing a stretch of Osmaston Road, Allenton, between its junctions with Ascot Drive and Russell Street. A road closure will be in force between 9.30am to 3.30pm each weekday to allow the work, which is expected to be completed by Wednesday, October 13, to be carried out.
A diversion route will be in place for motorists via Ascot Drive, London Road, Bradshaw Way, and Osmaston Road.
Closures will be in place on four separate stretches along Osmaston Road at different stages over the course of the six-week project.
Three weeks of resurfacing work are also being carried out on Greenwich Drive South, between its junctions with Fulham Road and Brackensdale Avenue.
A road closure is set to be in force 24 hours a day until the Derby City Council scheme is completed on Friday, September 24.
Motorists will be unable to access Greenwich Drive South from its junction with Brackensdale Avenue.
A diversion route will be in place for motorists via Brackensdale Avenue, Greenland Avenue, Fulham Road, and Osterly Green.
There are also roadworks in Rupert Road, Chaddesden, until next Monday. A road closure will be in force between 8am and 3pm each weekday.
Residents and visitors have been told to find alternative parking to ensure work can take place.
