Chance to get up close to rare red squirrels

PEOPLE are being invited to walk with squirrels at a wildlife park in the Peak District.

Peak Wildlife Park, near Ashbourne, has opened a new area welcoming red squirrels back to the area after a 30-year hiatus.

The all-new walkthroug­h is in addition to the six already at the park. They are designed to immerse visitors into the animals’ habitat, allowing them to come face to face with some of the world’s most endangered species, such as penguins, lemurs and now red squirrels.

Keeper Yaz said: “It brings a different atmosphere to the park. You can spend hours in the walkthroug­h spotting red squirrels and other British native wildlife.”
