Overnight closures at roundabout

-

A BUSY Derby roundabout, from which motorists can access the A50 at junction 3, is to close for overnight roadworks this week.

The Bonnie Prince Roundabout, in Chellaston, will be shut overnight today and tomorrow for work which began yesterday.

The roundabout, from which motorists can also reach Swarkestone and Infinity Park Way, will be closed between 8pm and 5am each night. The overnight closures will then return on Saturday and Sunday, during the same hours.

A spokesman for Highways East Midlands confirmed the works are for resurfacing and some general maintenance. He added: “A diversion route will be in place and will be clearly signposted.”

Bus operator Arriva took to social media to alert passengers that its service 2 route will be affected by the overnight closures. It said: “During this time service 2 will be unable to serve stop along the A514 Swarkestone Road. “It will instead be diverted via Barrow Lane, Buckford lane, Stenson Road, Grampian Way, Sinfin Lane, Wilmore Road, Infinity Park Way, Dundas Way, Rowallan Way, Glendevon Way, Drummond Way, Prestwick way and Parkway, before returning to normal route on Derby Road.”
