Poundland store to close as lease expires

-

A POUNDLAND store in Derby city centre is to close down next week.

The discount retail giant’s branch in East Street will close its doors for the final time on Saturday, September 18.

The national chain will still retain a city centre presence following the closure, with its branch located by The Spot entrance to Derbion continuing to trade as normal.

A spokesman for Poundland has sais the East Street store was closing following the expiry of the lease on the unit.

He said: “While we’re sad that the Poundland store in East Street, Derby, is closing on September 18 following the expiry of the lease, we’re still offering customers amazing value at our nearby store at London Road. It goes without saying, when we close a store, we always work hard to look after colleagues directly affected.”

An “everything must go” sale is now on at the store closing, with ‘massive reductions’ including “25% off everything”, according to signs in the storefront windows.
