THE finalists for this year’s Derby Food and Drink Awards, which celebrate the city’s favourite restaurants, pubs, bars and cafés, have been revealed.

More than 3,000 nominations were received after voting opened in late July, and now the judges have decided upon their shortlists for the annual celebration of the city’s finest eating and drinking establishments.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony that will take place at The Chocolate Factory, on the junction of John Street and Siddals Road and home to Bustler Market, on Monday, October 18.

Marketing Derby’s annual event is back for its 12th staging after last year’s was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

John Forkin, managing director of Marketing Derby, said: “We were delighted to receive over 3,000 nominations and the impact of the pandemic has been obvious in the large number received for neighbourhood establishments and even so-called ‘dark kitchens,’ which offer delivery only services. Once again, the judges will have a tough, albeit thoroughly enjoyable, task.”

Out of 12 categories, 10 were open for nominations, which were received from members of the public, business leaders and food and drink establishment owners. The overall Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards Winner for 2021, sponsored by Denby Pottery, and the award for Outstanding Achievement, sponsored by Royal Crown Derby, will also be revealed on the night.

The Excellence in Customer Service winner will be chosen by a public vote and will also be announced on the night. Voting for this has now opened and you can cast your vote at www.marketingderby.co.uk/ derby-food-awards.
