Thug slashes drinker with knife in row

A MAN slashed his victim with a knife after a row in a pub.

Kelvin Fletcher attacked another man in Market Street, Clay Cross, after the pair had a disagreeme­nt at the Nags Head on May 20.

The incident, which took place in broad daylight, left the victim, who was in his 20s, requiring hospital treatment for injuries to his nose.

Fletcher, of Oakdale Close, Danesmoor, handed himself in at Clay Cross Police Station on the same day, where he was arrested.

The 41-year-old was later charged with wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He pleaded guilty to both of these offences at Derby Crown Court on Friday. He is due to be sentenced at the same court on Wednesday, October 6.
