PLANT OF THE WEEK

-

STROBILANTHES ATTENUATA

Here’s a late-summer treasure I came across this week – it’s not one you’ll see often, but maybe it should be planted a bit more.

It has pretty hooded purple flowers, performs in the shade and blooms late in the season, right through to October. A perennial, it will form a low bushy mound and enjoys freedraining soil. If it gets hit by a latewinter frost, cut back and it will re-emerge next year.
