Our city needs more kindness and respect
EVERYONE has a right to their opinion. However, some of the letters printed recently do not reflect well on Derby residents.
The letters page on Monday was an unfortunate example of unfeeling and uncaring views.
One contributor appears to be suggesting that refugees risking their lives by crossing the Channel in flimsy dinghies should be sent straight to Kent to pick crops, another suggests we turn our backs on those who need health care and yet another contributor seems intent on creating religious divide with his views on Catholicism.
What has happened to the people of Derby? In past times, when things have been tough and hardship was common, the people of this city helped and supported those who needed it.
Times are strange. Many have suffered bereavement, illness, unemployment, fear and anxiety. What we need is kindness, understanding and respect for each other.
