Blood work

-

IF you’re already a fan of Greg Davies’ wicked, deadpan humour, it’s a dead cert that you’ll like his new comedy about a crime scene cleaner.

Written by and starring Greg, this is based on a hit German TV show and has an excellent cast – including, in this episode, Helena Bonham Carter.

Greg plays Wicky, who is called in after CSI has finished to mop up any grizzly remains.

A qualified professional, in his own words, he can get dried blood out of a white woollen carpet and remove skull fragments from velvet.

In this opening episode, Wicky arrives at a house in the well-to-do suburbs after a housewife snapped and stabbed her husband 38 times in the kitchen.

“You only need five stabs, anything else is showboating,” he complains.

It’s curry night at The White Horse and he doesn’t want to miss the poppadoms.

It’s a standard Wednesday for Wicky, who sets about working as fast as he can to get to his night out – but he keeps getting interrupted.

First by a woman with an unhealthy obsession for letter writing (played by Shobu Kapoor), and later by The Widow (Bonham Carter). Yes, the woman who just killed her husband and just wants to collect a few things. “Thirty-eight times? Goodness me, I was cross!” she says. There are some wonderful scenes between Greg and Helena, including possibly the most unique duet you’ll see on television. An excellent, slightly bloodstained addition to the Friday night telly schedules.
