Woman fights off sex attacker

POLICE have launched an appeal after a woman was sexually assaulted next to Derbyshire’s Nutbrook bike trail.

The victim, who is in her 20s, had been walking along Derby Road near Swan Lake, Ilkeston, on Thursday, when she was approached by a man who appeared from the trail which runs beneath, at around 10.10pm.

The man sexually assaulted the woman but she fought back and fled.

Derbyshire police have launched an appeal to try to find the man.

Inspector Ed Browne said: “At this time detectives understand this to be an isolated incident. However, I understand how concerning this will be for the community and extra patrols are being undertaken in the area. I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and help officers with their enquiries.”
