Net zero job warning

UP to 660,000 jobs could be at risk if the UK fails to transition to net zero carbon emissions as quickly as other countries, union leaders are warning.

Jobs could be moved offshore to countries offering better green infrastructure and support for decarbonising industry, the TUC said. Its analysis suggested jobs at risk include 259,700 in manufacturing and 407,100 in supply chain firms .The regions with the most direct jobs at risk are North West, Yorkshire, the Humber and West Midlands.
