HGV drivers who have left should stay away
THE reports of HGV drivers leaving the country because of Brexit is not the real story.
Many left after the loophole of IR35, which allowed them to avoid paying little, or no income tax, was closed earlier this year. They should not be allowed to return, which would once again destroy the hard-won wage increases that the industry has now had to pay.
The transport industry, along with the Government, should instigate paid-for training schemes for our own people.
