Village is ranked among Britain’s best

-

A DERBYSHIRE village has been voted among the 50 best in Britain.

According to The Sunday Times, Edale is the 28th best village in the UK and is “unrivalled for countryside and for connections”.

With train lines linking the village with Sheffield and Manchester using the spectacular Edale Station, it is the perfect place for people from both sides of the Pennies to pull on their walking boots and scale the hills above.

The area also includes the tallest peak in the National Park – Kinder Scout – and Edale also acts as the start or end, depending on your route, of “the UK’s first and most famous long-distance walking path – the Pennine Way”, so says Visit Peak District.

The village itself has two good pubs, a shop, tourist information centre and plenty of green spaces just waiting to be explored.

The Sunday Times also notes Edale has: “a strong community where the sheep farmers and urban escapees rub together”.

The top spot on the Sunday Times ranking was taken by Bethersden, in Kent, described as having “everything you need for a Darling Buds of May lifestyle”.
