BUT IT AMOUNTS TO ONLY THREE A DAY ACROSS COUNTY

-

THE prosecutions all fall under the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) Regulations 2020.

In June, a spokesperson for Derbyshire police said: “Over the past 14 months Derbyshire residents have lived with an everchanging mix of regulations and guidance in response to the unprecedented threat posed by

Covid-19. While taken in isolation the figure of 1,600 fines may sound large. However, when broken down this amounts to around three fines handed out each day.

“Considering the county has a population of more than 750,000 people – along with many more who work and visit the county – the number of fines, rather than being a concern, shows the incredibly high rate of compliance by our communities.

“Over recent weeks we have seen significant easing of restrictions which has been made possible, in no small part, due to the manner in which the vast majority have conducted themselves over the past months.”
