Wheeldon point would clinch the title

-

NO-ONE at the top of the Derbyshire Premier Division Player of the Year standings scored points on what would normally have been the last weekend of the season on Saturday.

However, joint leader Paul Borrington’s race is run, while joint leader Dan Wheeldon, of Sandiacre, could grab the overall prize with a single point in his team’s last match on Saturday.

Ockbrook’s Josh Lacey, in joint second, could match the leaders’ score if he were to be man of the match in his side’s last game.

Umpires at each game award three, two and one points to players deemed most influential, with a £250 first prize awaiting the overall winner, £100 for second and £50 for third in the Finance Advice Centre-sponsored competition. LEADING SCORES, 22pts: Dan Wheeldon (Sandiacre), Paul Borrington (Ticknall).

19: Josh Lacey (Ockbrook), Akhil Patel (Langley Mill). 18: Paul Allen (Spondon).

17: Tom Knight (A&B).

16: Ben Hutchinson (Swarkestone).

15: Mykylo Bird (Ockbrook), Gareth Young (Ockbrook).
