Arrest after pedestrian injured in village

A MAN has been arrested in connection with a serious incident in which a woman was injured and a dog died.

Police were called to The Hill, Cromford, just before 4pm on Monday by paramedics, following reports of a pedestrian with a dog being hit by a van.

A woman in her 70s was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where she remains. Sadly, the dog died at the scene.

The road was closed to allow for an investigat­ion and reopened at around 8.30pm.

A man, aged in his 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and is in police custody.
