One man arrested after alleged fight in town

DERBYSHIRE police are looking into a violent incident Monday night which left one man with cuts and bruises.

It was at around 11pm on Monday, when officers were called to St Helen’s Street in Chesterfield following reports of alleged assault after two men were reportedly seen fighting in the street.

A 22-year old man was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and has been released under investigation.

The alleged victim was taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining cuts and bruises.

However, his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A Derbyshire police spokeswoman said: “Officers attended St Helen’s Street in

Chesterfield at around 11pm on Monday evening (September 13) in response to a report of an alleged assault after two men were seen fighting in the street.

“A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

“The victim sustained cuts and bruises, but his injuries are not believed to be serious.”
