One man arrested after alleged fight in town

DERBYSHIRE police are looking into a violent incident Monday night which left one man with cuts and bruises.

It was at around 11pm on Monday, when officers were called to St Helen’s Street in Chesterfie­ld following reports of alleged assault after two men were reportedly seen fighting in the street.

A 22-year old man was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and has been released under investigat­ion.

The alleged victim was taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining cuts and bruises.

However, his injuries are not thought to be life-threatenin­g.

A Derbyshire police spokeswoma­n said: “Officers attended St Helen’s Street in

Chesterfie­ld at around 11pm on Monday evening (September 13) in response to a report of an alleged assault after two men were seen fighting in the street.

“A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

“The victim sustained cuts and bruises, but his injuries are not believed to be serious.”
