A “SPEEDING” driver crashed into a lorry with his “partner and threeyear-old child” on board.

Police said Derbyshire dad Declan Webster, 32, drove his Toyota Corolla and was “speeding and racing with friends” when he smashed into a lorry back in January, with “his partner and three-year-old child were in the car”.

Members of the Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit posted this footage on Twitter showing the moment of the crash.

The footage shows three vehicles travelling down Brimington Road North, in Chesterfield, at speed before one of the cars ploughs into the side of a lorry at the roundabout junction with the A61.

Officers said that Webster, of Spital Lane, Chesterfield, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and is awaiting sentence at crown court.

The two other drivers, Robert Bower, of Corner Pin Close, Staveley, and Michael Bower, of Hyndley Road, Bolsover also pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and also await sentence at crown court.

In a series of two tweets members of the RPU wrote: “A crash from January in Chesterfield. Declan Webster, 32 drove his Toyota Corolla. Speeding and racing with friends, he smashed in to a lorry. His partner and 3-yearold child were in the car.

“He’s pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and awaits sentence in Crown Court. The two other drivers Robert Bower, 33 and Michael Bower, 27 also pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. Again they await sentence in crown court.

“This trio of dangerous drivers are lucky not to have killed someone. #Fatal4.”

The trio will appear at Derby Crown Court for a sentencing hearing on Monday, October 11.
