Crash mum who failed to show at court is arrested

-

A DERBY mum who went on the run after an M1 crash which killed two of her children has been arrested.

A warrant had been issued for the arrest of Mary McCann after she failed to appear at court to answer charges of causing death by dangerous driving.

McCann, of Bamford Avenue, Sunny Hill, had been granted bail before a hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday, September 10, but did not turn up.

At the hearing a judge issued a warrant for the 35-year-old’s arrest and warned that she might try to flee the country.

However, she has now been arrested after handing herself in at Aylesbury police station on Wednesday.

She will now face charges in court over allegations she was behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Astra which crashed into a lorry on the M1 near Milton Keynes last month.

The incident left her son Smaller, 10, and her daughter Lilly, four, fatally injured, while the driver of the lorry was unhurt.

She will appear at Aylesbury Crown Court at a later date.
