Inquest opens into death of teenager whose body was found in woods
AN inquest has been opened into the death of a 17-year-old whose body was found in woodland in Derbyshire.
Amy Louise Hall was found in woods off Sett Valley Trail in the Birch Vale area, near New Mills. She was reported missing from her home in Hayfield at 1pm on Thursday, September 9. Searches were carried out for the teenager but her body was found by Glossop Mountain Rescue Team at the base of a tree on Saturday, September 11.
She was formally identified by her parents, Gareth and Nicola Hall, at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
The inquest in Chesterfield was told that a post-mortem examination was carried out by pathologist Dr Gina Howarth but no medical cause of death could be established and investigation work is continuing into how Miss Hall died.
Adjourning the inquest to a later date, assistant coroner Sarah Huntbach offered her sincerest condolences to Mr and Mrs Hall “for the loss of your daughter whose life has come to an end so early in these very difficult and tragic circumstances.
“I cannot begin to imagine what you must be going through right now in dealing with this”.
