Police cordon as man suffers head injuries, two held

POLICE were yesterday at the scene of an incident on Green Lane, where a cordon was put in place at around 5.45am.

Derbyshire police later released a statement saying a man in his 20s had suffered head injuries, with two men arrested.

The statement said: “We were called to Green Lane just before 11.30pm last night to reports of a man who was injured.

“A man in his 20s was taken to hospital having suffered an injury to his head which was not thought to be serious.

Two men, one aged in his 20s and one in his 50s, have been arrested in relation to the incident and an investigat­ion is ongoing.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage that may have captured the incident.

“Anyone with informatio­n is asked to contact us quoting the reference 21*537785.

“You can call 101 or use any of the usual social media channels. You can also anonymousl­y contact the independen­t charity Crimestopp­ers, on 0800 555 111 or by visiting www. crimestopp­ers-uk.org.”

Police left the scene at around 10.35am, with traffic returning to normal after earlier disruption.

Green Lane links Victoria Street with the Lara Croft Way roundabout in the city centre, and is home to a number of shops and takeaways.
