Why we must turn back the refugee boats

-

WE are a basically kind nation, happy to help immigrants who come to us by the proper channels; we house them and give them a better future. What we can’t support are the numbers who come here by sea.

I read recently how Australia manages the problem of boats carrying these refugees trying to enter the country. The Australian navy apprehends the boats, boards them, ensures they are safe and seaworthy then turns them back, also informing the country from which they started of their situation and co-ordinates, again for safety reasons.

It appears to be a safe and effective method of avoiding illegal immigration and something Home Secretary Priti Patel should be considering, disputing any far-fetched French claim of this contravening Maritime Law.
