Police probe after man’s body is found on side of Peak District road

POLICE say enquiries are ongoing after the body of a man was found by the side of a road in the Peak District.

Derbyshire Police were called to Great Hucklow - near Eyam - on Thursday after reports a body had seen by a member of the public.

The discovery happened at around 10am at the side of the main road running through Abney.

The forced closed off the road for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident and investigat­ed the scene.

Officers say they are not treating the man’s death as suspicious, but enquiries are continuing and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

A spokespers­on for Derbyshire Police said: “We are carrying out enquiries after the body of a man was found at Great Hucklow. “At around 10am yesterday (Thursday) we received a call from a member of the public who had noticed a body at the roadside at Abney.

“The road was closed while investigat­ions were carried out at the scene. Enquiries are continuing and a file is being prepared for the coroner. “At this time, we are not treating the man’s death as suspicious.”
