Another 484 Covid cases in Derbyshire and one more death from disease is recorded

THE number of coronaviru­s-related deaths in Derbyshire has risen once again after one more person died from the virus.

According to the latest update from Public Health England, the death occurred within the Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, where there have now been 1,693 fatalities because of the pandemic.

It means there have now been 2,165 Covid deaths in the county.

The latest update showed that another 484 cases of the virus had been recorded in Derbyshire in 24 hours. Derby recorded the highest number of cases, after 113 positive tests were returned.

The lowest number of new cases were found in Chesterfie­ld, where there were 34 new cases.

The Government said a further 178 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 134,983. Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 159,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificat­e. As of 9am on Friday, there had been a further 32,651 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK.
