‘INQUIRIES HAVE BEEN FLOODING IN FROM POTENTIAL PURCHASERS’

-

MEL Morris revealed that there have been around 15 enquiries about buying the club since the news on Friday that the Rams have moved to appoint administrators.

Morris says there are parties with serious interest in taking over Derby County.

“Administration brings a whole raft of offers from all sorts of places,” Morris said.

“The process, as I understand it, is you go through a period of consultation. In the first 28 days, I think the fans have an opportunity to put a bid forward, if they want to do so. That is part of what has to happen.

“In terms of interest in the club, I will share with you that just over the course of the weekend there were somewhere in the region of 15 enquiries. In terms of serious ones, I think there are two or three there that are, certainly based on reputation, very serious indeed.”

Derby have seen takeover bids collapse in the last 18 months.

“Half of the battle is not about getting people interested in discussing things with you, the challenge is actually finding people who have the money, can prove they have the money, and have the right profile and other things to run forward with the club,” Morris added.

“It is really tough, and in the time of Covid I just think it is almost impossible to understand the impact that has and the uncertainty created by that. Am I buying a club that has got £30 million or revenue or £10 million of revenue? Even now we have got to get answers to what that might look like this season.

“It is a difficult thing to do, we have been going through that for a couple of years but I am hoping that the administration will have an easier time of that than probably we did.”
