Driver flees after car crashes into house
AN Audi car crashed into a house in a Derbyshire village in the early hours of the morning.
Police say the driver left the scene before officers arrived in Oaktree Road, Hilcote, near South Normanton, at around 2am on Saturday.
Officers from the force’s North East Derbyshire Response Unit attended the scene, where considerable damage was done to both the car and the bedroom it crashed into.
An officer from the team said: “Car goes straight over a junction and buries itself into a house. Luckily owners were away or they’d have had the car in their bedroom. Female driver doesn’t hang around to wait for us. Plenty of forensic opportunities.”
In a separate incident, crews from Clowne, Staveley and Bolsover attended a blaze in Clowne involving a large number of tyres. Firefighters were called at 8.44pm on Friday.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service also tackled a fire in a large wooden building on Queen Street in Langley Mill the same evening.
